Hey Guys and Gals!

Here is a brand new Illustration for christmas!  I wanted to make a Christmas Card and test out some new brushes I bought for the first time online and I love them! Link to the brushes down below!  I wanted to do something different, something more classical with a twist on it.  So I have seen the christmas decorated beards and thought it would be cute to see a sleepy grampa and his gran kids decorating him with stuff from the tree while he sleeps.

anyway lets get into the breakdown!

1. Rough

I started off with rough and used default brush, and just worked out the basic shapes.

2. Line and shape

After I finished the rough I started using the new gouche brushes to make the shapes and a small bit of line art for extra detail.  I also made a couple custome  brushes for the tinsel on the tree and for the candy cane to make it look more like real tinsel.

4. Texture and Shading

Once the shapes and line were done I worked on texturing the grampa's beard, the tinsel and the tree leaves etc.  I added a little blush to the characters skin to very the skin color and finally added some shading and little highlights .  After that I added a tinsel boarder and a merry christmas text I also made an english and Irish version just for the sake of it :)

If you like the brush and want really good texture brushes for your own buy the here!  I nver usually buy brushes but I though I might give it a try and (lazyness and frustration on making my own)  I will probably buy more cause there really good and really cheap.  the ones I bought were the Gouche Brushes, hope this helps.

Mega Slowbro Redesigned

 Hey guys and gals sorry for the lack of update but I've been working on some secret projects.  But anyway this is something that I need to address the moment it was leaked.   Pokemon started releasing a new Mega-evolution for pokemon already introduced in to the game.  There ment to be have a slightly different design and better stats for the competitive game.  All of the new designs so far have been more or less intimidating by comparison to there previous forms.  Until mega Slowbro came out.  His design looks silly and he looks like an ice cream cone standing like a spinning top.  So I redesigned him to be more suited to the other mega pokemon.  I designed him so that it looks like the shell tried to swallow from behind and then slowbro punch out is arms and legs, and now slowbro has a fully armoured torso and it looks like the slowbro and shelder are one pokemon as a whole instead of two seperate pokemon. Sorry if this sounds like a rant but I love all the other new mega designs but slowbro deserves a better mega form.

 This is the flat line and color no shading.

Shipwreck Island Concept

Hey guys here is a new post, this is a concept piece, did a couple of weeks for a game.  The basis is that this is part of a set of islands that are part of a bigger map.  This is a concept for what maybe one of the islands might look like.  It has Isometric perspective and I used a slightly different process than I usually do.

I started with a rough sketch on the image and I brought it into flash. (my illustrator wont work on my computer...)  I broke up the image to many different shapes and exported them as PNG files and the colored and painted them in Photoshop.

The Lighting was broken up with dark shad on the left and sun on the right, I also had the rocks under the water which were very difficult to paint.  I was really trying to create the illusion the the rocks under the water and the blend between the sand and the waves on top.  If I had more time  I probably would have made the sun light more contrasting and added more to the pirate ship on top on the rock, and a little more texture to.

Hey guys, I have been recently applying for working everywhere.  Alot of the work I do I'm not allowed to show off... but this time they let me on the condition that I dont mention the studio..... so Yay here you go, a medieval , warrior game.  I had to create a full rotation of the character and a progressive environment with upgrades so I made a base of a old house that a tree had over grown and upgrading the building you start to build around the tree and into the tree.  The full stage is where the Tree has rotten to you build a tower inside the center of the tree and a bit of a church looking building beside the tree.

"Under My Bed" Smock Alley Theatre 16th to 18th January 2014

"Under My Bed"

Hey guys, I have been very busy in the last few months working on a few different projects.  One of them is a childrens Charity event Called "Under My Bed".  Under My Bed is a patchwork of childhood stories from some of Ireland's  Most recognisable - chefs, broadcasters, politicians, writers, actors and musicians.  All the proceeds of the show will go to "Barnolds Ireland."

I have been working on a few illustrations based on one of the stories that will be read at the show.  Child hood stories will be read at the event and its all for Charity so, If you have the time come on down to the Smock Alley Theatre on the 16th to the 18th of January.

Also The images plus about 4 or 5 others of mine will be there to on display and the will be up for auction if you wanna framed one ;D

'Sup Witches?' Happy Halloween 2013

Just a werewolf and his witches, together they make magic.  I had the sketch of the nasty werewolf and I wanted to do something with is for a Halloween image.  This came out really well. Here is the break down of the image below.

PRT 1

Here is the rough sketch, I had the head first and though it was really funny so I gave him a body to match.

After that I did a rough sketch on top of the image and added in the witches.

I started doing the line work once I was happy with the rough sketch.

Once the line work was done and the background added in as well.  I took my time and added the flat color of the image.

Getting close now.  I also added in the texture to the characters to give them a little more detail.

I then did a couple of concept images for the could and lighting.  Once I picked out the final version of the lighting.  I added in the different light sources to add shape and volume the characters and the enviroment to make what you see here.

Doctor Who "Disney Style"

Hey guys.  This is a Doctor Who illustration, Disney Style.  I did it for the Irish Sketch Society, the theme this week was Disney Style anything so I did an illustration of Doctor Who and Clara.  I wanted to do a Doctor Who Illustration for a while now so.  Here it is.  I did the first Sketch at the bottom Wednesday and almost for got to finish it lol. So I rushed yesterday and today.  I hope you all like it.    

Line and Color.

First sketch, Clara was the easiest person to draw, Matt Smith  has the hardest eyes to draw ever, it was so difficult to get them right.  I still not sure its the best but it will do.

The Crash of Us

I recently played the game "The Last of Us", absolutely loved it Naughty Dog have made a game , where I was so involved in the story that I felt like a feature Film.  I also am a huge fan of Crash Bandicoot for the Play Station One.  So I drew this, Its a parody of the two games.  I love them both and thought this would be a fun to see Crash so Serious.  If you liked the games them share this with your friends :)

Leprechauns are Fast

I did this for the Irish Sketch Society, at the end of every Rainbow is a pot of Gold and if u catch a Leprechaun u get his pot of Gold.  You also never get to the end of a Rainbow, why ? because the Rainbow is pulled along by a Leprechaun's pot of gold or something... Happy St Patrick's Day

Love is Blind concept art

"Love is Blind" is the Title of the new Student film that I have been working on since September.  Its my final Year film and am in the middle of the production.  Its about Medusa trying to find love, that is all I'll say for now.  Below is some of the concept art and model sheets of the character.

Her tail is not quite right but its just to show how long her tail is.

This is the very first sketch of the character, I was thinking of doing it in Flash, but i don't know flash well enough to make a film so I changed it to suite the animation and also the age group of the viewers. I'll be putting up more in different posts so check them out to.  There is a lot more concept for this film that i will share.

Kitchen concept art

Heres one of the concept images i have done for the kitchen in my student film "Pheonix and the chef" the kitchen looks much better now in terms of everything on the walls, but the center of the kitchen is still the same. I might change it to look more like the final enviorment.  I'll be uploading a couple of more images at some point.

"Phoenix Medium Rare" - More concept art

One of these 4 birds will be the final design for my short film that I'm working on with four other class mates.  I am in charge of all concept and art of the film, i will also be doing a bit of animation.             

These are concepts for the chefs design, i am still working on the chef and this probably won't be the final design for the character.  the problem with the character is that he is not really style wise similar to the Pheonix, since the pheonix is the main character, the film will lean towards her needs, yes her.  But anyway these are old designs for the character.
